When a retired teacher is also a quilting grandmother, and a new grandson is on his way, creativity blooms. This is the story of Pamalama Jo Designs. As my daughter and I planned the nursery decor, I designed Ocean Friends. A local quilt shop manager loved my drawings and my daughter’s color palette. She challenged me to make and publish a pattern. I took the challenge. The pattern was published in May 2016, and Pamalama Jo Designs began.
Working with forest animals I’d designed for my older grandkids, I developed my second pattern Forest Friends: Hide and Seek. This second pattern features whimsical animals as well. They seem to be hiding in a string block forest and shyly peeking out. There's plenty of woodsy green and sky blue, my two favorite colors.
Texas Treasures came next. Scrappy star blocks alternate with the animals. Classic western critters are included: roadrunner, rattlesnake, coyote, jackrabbit, horned toad, armadillo and more! A red, white and blue sawtooth border tops it off.
In addition to creating more patterns, the business is growing into other areas too: classes and demonstrations, block-of-the-months, trunk shows, and in 2020... guild lectures! I can't wait to see what's next! Please sign up for my newsletter and join me on this adventure called Pamalama Jo Designs!
